Fortress was founded back in 1982 and quickly developed a high profile for delivering quality results on complex projects. Many roofs across Melbourne still have Fortress waterproofing on it.
Today, working with our suppliers and industry experts, we still deliver outcomes on complex projects other waterproof companies wont or cant.
Understanding how a building is constructed is critical in delivering compliant outcomes for our clients.
Relevant Qualifications held by us:
Expertise and Knowledge: Waterproofing requires a comprehensive understanding of various construction techniques, materials, and building codes. Our qualified team members have undergone rigorous training, keeping them up-to-date with the latest industry standards and best practices. This expertise allows us to accurately assess your property's unique requirements and implement the most effective waterproofing solutions.
Compliance with Regulations: Waterproofing projects are subject to national building codes, regulations and standards. Our team deeply understands the relevant codes (NCC) and relevant Australian Standards used in construction and can apply this knowledge into ensuring a compliant and effective solution to waterproofing issues.
Waterproofing requires detailed knowledge not only of the product we are using, but of the many facets of the project like substrates, construction methods, the job specifications and so on.
And often, our workmanship is covered by other trades such as tiles.
So, for you to rely on our quality, we rely on some key elements.
Quality Products - We use Australian suppliers and manufacturers where they meet the Australian standards for membrane testing and supply written warranties on their products.
Technical Support- apart from our own experience based recommendations, we are also members of the Australian Institute of Waterproofing, the industries central source of knowledge about the Waterproofing industry, and as such can call on them to support us on complex projects when required.
Innovative equipment- We use top class equipment for our waterproofing services.
From small Inspection cameras that allow us to snake around walls and cavities to give us an intimate image of where moisture is coming in, coupled with our moisture meters and sensors to give us precise percentages of moisture retention, to our top class Thermal Imaging equipment to actually see what can't be seen.
Insurance and certifications- We maintain Public Liability and Workers Compensation Insurance along with:
We also work with many clients that we must maintain their pre-qualification standard to allow us to work on their sites.
Warranties- We are a serious, insured and qualified waterproofing company that has built trust with literally hundreds of clients over our journey - a journey we want to continue. So we offer, in most cases, warranties on our workmanship and products of seven years or more (depending on membranes, supplier, etc)
Training- Along with on the job training, we send our applicators and managers to specific industry meetings and training sessions held by suppliers on their specific products. Increasingly, we look for applicators that hold the Certificate 3 in Construction Waterproofing qualification (as our Management team hold this qualification).
Chris Barnes (Our Manager) also holds the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and provides Sessional Training in a formal setting (TAFE) in the Certificate III - Construction Waterproofing course. So, not only do we know waterproofing, we teach it!
